While John & Biff were setting up, a call came in from an old friend in Seattle with an offer of work for his software company – two days after my ticketed departure following the Slow Music Project. Slow Music has already extended my planned 3 weeks outside the UK to four, although encouraged and supported by the Slinky Minx, so this was a hard call home.

Back at the venue, while practising, I was offered the opportunity of a Friend For Life, one who wanted me to meet an acquaintance of his for a handshake & photo opportunity. This didn’t actually take place, but my possible Friend For Life disturbed the practising. Much of the time spent practising guitar at venues has little to do with the guitar: it is practising the person. Similarly with tuning: the instrument is fine. So, what is being tuned? To disturb my practising (as today) or tuning (IMAC LI) is to disturb the person. Surely this is obvious?

According to Biff: the venue is a Capone speakeasy from the Prohibition era, and a tunnel leads from the club down to the river. And something unpleasant happened in a room at the back, now with a short, malevolent ghost.

An exceptionally patient & supportive audience.

Four Quarter Maintainer: Alex.

Soon, to Eyrie, Pennsylvania en route to Pittsburgh. I have had a headache all day set-off by the rock-pillows last night.
